Soon after CBS News got a new (Trumpy) owner and new (right-leaning) editorial management last year, the company appointed someone to supposedly keep an eye on editorial bias and ensure impartiality.
Kenneth Weinstein would be “an independent, internal advocate for journalistic integrity and transparency.”
Yeah, right.
From the get-go, there was no reason to think this would be a real thing — a person whose first responsibility was to the CBS audience and whose first interest was fairness in the public interest.
