Emily Feng joins NPR's Politics and Policy Desk

Posted

In a note to newsroom staff, NPR Politics and Policy Desk Chief Editor, Dana Farrington, and White House Senior Editor, Rebekah Metzler, announced the following staffing update:

We are thrilled to announce that Emily Feng will be joining the Politics and Policy Desk as a White House correspondent in August. She will team up with Franco Ordoñez, Deepa Shivaram and Danielle Kurtzleben in their regular rotation at the White House.

Emily comes to us from the International Desk, where she is known for her incredible work ethic and ability to spot stories everywhere.

Her book, Let Only Red Flowers Bloom, published by Crown, came out in 2025. Based on a decade of reporting from the Asia Pacific, the book chronicles how ordinary people are redefining Chinese identity and the state's preoccupation with identity.

Emily’s voice will be a familiar one to the NPR audience, and we’re looking forward to having her bring her award-winning experience to covering the Trump administration.
