Wick Communications has announced that Seaton Publishing Company’s Grand Junction Media is acquiring Wick’s Colorado newspaper group and commercial printing operations.
The sale includes two longstanding Western Slope publications, the Montrose Daily Press and the Delta County Independent, along with a printing facility in Montrose, Colorado. The transaction will bring three of Colorado’s Western Slope community newspapers under shared ownership for the first time, strengthening the region’s local news landscape.
Dirks, Van Essen & April, a media merger and acquisition firm based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, is representing Wick Communications in the transaction. Terms were not disclosed.
The divestiture reflects a strategic transition for Wick Communications while ensuring continued local ownership of these historic community publications. The Montrose Daily Press, originally founded as a weekly in 1882, is the oldest business in Montrose, while the Delta County Independent traces its roots to the Delta Chief, established in 1883. Both newspapers have served as vital sources of local news and community connection for generations.
Grand Junction Media, based in Grand Junction, Colorado, is a full-service marketing and communications company serving the Western Slope. As a subsidiary of the family-owned Seaton Publishing Company, it operates several prominent media properties, including The Daily Sentinel, The Nickel, and local radio stations such as The Outlaw 107.3 and Spanish-language station La Jefa 104.7.
