KCRW cuts staff, restructures operations following end of federal aid

The end of federal funding continues to ripple through public media, and in Los Angeles that means KCRW (89.9) is tightening its belt. The public media station is laying off 10% of its staff.

“KCRW remains strong with more members than we’ve ever had and sustained audience growth,” President Jennifer Ferro said in a memo to staff, which also notes they are “very proud” of their podcast efforts. But the financial realities of the end of federal funding means belt-tightening is necessary.
