WASHINGTON, D.C. — America’s Newspapers and the News/Media Alliance today announced a landmark collaboration that will bring together top leaders from across the news media industry for a combined event on Sept. 27-30, 2026, at the Washington Marriott Georgetown in Washington, D.C.

The News/Media Alliance’s Annual Washington, D.C., Fly-In has served as a unique opportunity for news media leaders to participate directly in advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill. Participants meet with members of Congress and their staff to reinforce the importance of legislation that protects and sustains quality journalism, and gather at the organization’s Support Journalism Awards Dinner, an opportunity to honor lawmakers who have championed the industry.

The America’s Newspapers Senior Leadership Conference brings together top decision-makers to tackle the challenges and opportunities facing local newspapers, and to cultivate candid discussions on growth strategies, innovation and public policy. The event also integrates the America’s Newspapers Family Owners Conference into the broader agenda, creating a seamless experience for attendees to learn, network and collaborate across ownership and leadership roles.

With the America’s Newspapers Senior Leadership Conference taking place in Washington, D.C., this year, NMA and AN leadership recognized a unique opportunity to offer an enhanced, integrated experience to members of both organizations, one that will expand the reach and advocacy impact of their important work. Attendees will continue to have access to the core elements of both events, with additional opportunities for networking and joint discussions.

Our industry is stronger together, better united. We look forward to offering members of both the News/Media Alliance and America’s Newspapers enhanced opportunities for meaningful engagement with both their peers and members of Congress at this joint gathering.”

“This joint event underscores the power of alignment among the news industry’s leading associations,” said Dean Ridings, president and CEO of America’s Newspapers. “By uniting our Senior Leadership Conference with a coordinated advocacy effort in Washington, we are elevating our collective voice and reinforcing the essential role of trusted journalism at a critical time for our industry.”
